Market Update
U.S. stocks rose Friday, snapping a recent losing streak as Wall Street looked to wrap up a volatile week on a more optimistic note. The S&P 500 and Nasdaq climbed, while the Dow also moved higher, building on Thursday’s strong rebound.
The rally was driven by cooling inflation data and a renewed easing of concerns around the AI trade. This week’s delayed November CPI report showed inflation continuing to cool, reigniting hopes that the Federal Reserve could deliver multiple rate cuts in 2026, especially as signs of labor-market weakness persist.
Tech stocks led the move higher. Oracle jumped after China’s ByteDance signed deals to spin off TikTok’s U.S. business into a joint venture that includes Oracle. Meanwhile, Nvidia shares rose after reports suggested the U.S. is reviewing potential sales of its H200 AI chips to China — a development that helped stabilize sentiment around AI infrastructure spending.
Despite the bounce, it’s been a choppy week overall. Markets have digested a backlog of economic data amid concerns about reliability due to the government shutdown, and investors are still navigating a broader rotation out of mega-cap tech. Both the S&P 500 and Nasdaq remain slightly lower for the week and month, even with the late rebound.

Company Info:
Woodward, Inc. (NYSE: WWD) is an industrial technology company specializing in control systems and components for aerospace and industrial applications. The company designs and manufactures engine control, actuation, and energy management systems used in commercial and defense aircraft, power generation, and industrial machinery. Woodward’s mission is to enable cleaner, more efficient, and more reliable energy and propulsion systems, positioning it as a critical supplier at the intersection of aviation, defense, and advanced industrial technology.
Why We’re Watching This Stock:
The stock is a buy in 2025 because Woodward (WWD) sits at the center of long-term growth trends in aerospace, defense, and energy efficiency, supplying mission-critical control systems that are difficult to replace. Unlike cyclical industrial suppliers, Woodward’s products are deeply embedded in aircraft engines, defense platforms, and power generation systems, creating high switching costs and durable, multi-year revenue streams from OEMs and aftermarket services.
Despite near-term macro and aviation-cycle volatility, Woodward continues to benefit from rising global defense spending, commercial aerospace recovery, and increasing demand for more efficient, lower-emission propulsion and energy systems. With a strong backlog, expanding margins, and exposure to both commercial and defense end markets, WWD stands out as a high-quality industrial compounder positioned to benefit from long-duration aerospace and energy modernization trends—offering attractive upside as conditions normalize into 2025.
