Today (Here’s 3 things you need to know)

  1. Trump’s Transition Team Proposes Shift in Electric Vehicle Policies

President-elect Donald Trump's transition team is considering reversing key Biden administration policies on electric vehicles (EVs).

A document seen by Reuters suggests plans to eliminate the $7,500 EV tax credit and reallocate funds from charging infrastructure projects to strengthen the U.S. military supply chain.

Additional proposals include taxing imported battery components with exemptions for allies and relaxing emissions standards, rolling back to 2019 levels and limiting state-specific regulations like those in California.

These shifts come as automakers such as Toyota and Tesla continue substantial EV investments, totaling over $160 billion since 2021.

However, declining demand has prompted reductions in local EV production. Critics argue that reducing subsidies and easing emissions standards could hinder EV adoption and alter consumer preferences, potentially slowing the transition to greener energy vehicles.

The plans represent a stark departure from the Biden administration's incentives-focused approach, raising concerns about the future pace of the industry's shift toward sustainable transportation.

  1. Nvidia Gains Momentum with GB200 AI Server Plans

1 Year Performance (NVDA): +181.50%

Nvidia (NVDA) shares surged 4% to $135.49, reflecting a year-to-date gain of 181.5%, following reports of its GB200 AI and HPC servers slated for mass production by mid-2025.

Based on the Blackwell GPU architecture, the GB200 features innovative designs like the NVL72 variant, connecting 72 GPUs via NVLink for improved large language model processing and significant performance enhancements.

While technical challenges like heat management and interconnects have caused some delays, analysts expect these servers to dominate 80% of the AI server market by 2025.

Key manufacturing partners Foxconn and Quanta Computer confirm support for Nvidia's production timeline, with smaller shipments beginning soon and large-scale production ramping up in early 2025.

Analysts project a 55% increase in high-end GPU shipments in 2025, highlighting the GB200’s critical role in Nvidia’s AI strategy.

Despite recent share stagnation, the anticipated market impact of the GB200 renews investor interest in Nvidia's data center and AI leadership, fueling expectations for sustained growth.

  1. Apple Faces Slower Momentum for iPhone 16

1 Year Performance (AAPL): +29.73%

Analysts report that Apple's (AAPL) iPhone 16 momentum is slowing faster than anticipated, with market share trailing behind previous iPhone cycles.

A survey by Wave7 Research attributes the lag to low consumer awareness of the new "Apple Intelligence" feature, which only 10% of respondents recognized as a standout capability.

During the survey period, the iPhone 16 Pro Max captured a 19% share within the lineup, followed by the base models (16%) and the iPhone 16 Pro (17%), while the iPhone 16 Plus lagged at 7%.

Competitive pressure in the premium segment, including comparisons to the Samsung Galaxy S24 Ultra's camera, further challenged Apple's positioning. Despite these hurdles, analysts retain an "Overweight" rating on Apple, citing potential seasonal boosts in demand through year-end.
